I’m a 31-year old male. I’ve always wanted a pair of Birkenstock sandals just because, and am thinking about getting some. I emailed my metrosexual buddy and he said that none of the Birkenstocks look good. Others say they never go out of style because they are classics, they are comfortable, etc. etc. I’m married and have a kid. Do I still have to worry about fashionable sandals? Man, I’m lost.

If you find them comfortable, then get them! Besides, there’s some pretty ugly shoes that are unfortunately trendy, like Crocs and Uggs. Birkenstocks are not that bad.
They’re not in style in the usual sense of the term, but it’s true that they’ve never gone out of vogue with hippies, relaxed beach folk, academics, etc.
At the end of the day, it’s up to you — stop worrying about what the metrosexual crowd says, and buy what you like. Oh, just don’t wear them with socks!
it really doesnt matter! birkenstocks are really comfortable and thats all that matters! they arent ugly like uggs (which i believe is short for ugly!) or crocs. those are gross. just wear what ever makes you feel your best!
They are comfortable and the standard leather two strap ones look good on a guy. Go for it, I think they look fine and alot better than cheap fashion sandals.
