Are Birkenstocks unisex?

I have been told that Birkenstock sandals are unisex and the have both mens/womens sizes on them. But my local store has different styles in the womens/mens sections. Are the Mens ones cut to a diferent shape from the womens. The reason I ask is that my boyfriend was looking at some but he lost interest when he saw they were only in the womens sections at the store we looked at. Does it matter? I tried to tell him it really didn’t matter anyway!

He could buy those shoes from the women’s section but in the right size to fit him and nobody is going to look at his shoes and say, ” OMG he is wearing women’s shoes!” If he was looking at them and liked them before he saw they were only in the women’s section of the store then he should get them anyways. They are unisex in my opinion but they may not be selling those particular ones in the men’s section because they aren’t very big with men right now so they are just trying to sell them to women.

I think they do to some extent. I have seen them in stores and they have mens and womens styles. I think the difference is about the width and sizes. Like men’s would be wider and come in larger sizes. But they aren’t really too girly so he should be okay.

I think there are some that are strictly for girls and some that are made for boys, but that there some that can be considered unisex. Like, a lot of the girls’ ones has only one strap, and not many of the boys ones does… And there are some that are very ‘rough’ and manly that are for boys. They’re mostly brown and grey and those kinds of colors. But if there’s a pair that you think look like they’re unisex i would say that’s very possible! I’ve seen loads of guys wear birkenstocks that aren’t the ones i would immediatly imagine were only found in the guys section. So tell your boy that it doesn’t matter, that they have unisex ones or just do what i would, get the shoes for him and say that you found them in the guy section at that new mall he’s never heard of ;) .. Good luck!
