Birkenstocks: Suede, Leather, Nubuck, or Birko-flor?

So I’m going on a trip and I want the most comfortable sandals money can buy. I tried over 50 different sandals, but the ones that really felt the most comfortable were the Arizona model Birkenstock’s. Which upper material should I pick so I have the least possible “pinching” or irritation on my foot due to rubbing/abrasion? I have not looked at the birko-flor material as few stores carry them, but it is interesting due to its lower cost. I tried on Nubuck and I thought they felt really nice, but was wondering if the Nubuck would break in. If not, then I could go with Suede (which is soft from the start) but then there would be the problem that suede looks ugly after awhile while hard leathers do not. Plain leather is the last option, but I haven’t tried on the arizona in hard leather.

Which is your favorite Birkenstock uppers material? Also, what colours do you like (I’m a guy so nothing too feminine please)?

i have navy blue suede arizona style. have had them since early 1990s and they never have given me a problem. have also had them re-corked by birkenstock as well and they are as good as new.

for a guy I would go with something neutral, most of my guy friends have black, navy, mocha, or any other sort of brown they make. for guys, your color choices are usually pretty limited anyways. just don’t buy white ones.
