Can you clean Birkenstock sandal footbeds with a baking soda and water paste?

Ok, I heard that you can clean the footbed of a Birkenstock sandal with a paste of baking soda and water, I don’t won’t to wreck the sandals, but do you think that would work?

no- all you need is a wash rag- that has been rinsed through soapy water and scrub- if they are super bad- use a wire brush- but not too vigorously
