My goodness I can barely handle the odor after even an hour of wearing my Birkenstocks. It smells like I an walking around with open bags of fritos on my feet. YUCK!
Is there anything I can do about this?

no, it happens with all leather products, get new ones and put foot powder in everytime you wear them
Mine do this too and all I do is sprinkle them with baking soda and let them sit overnight. Works perfectly every time!
If your feet stink, eat more beans and nuts, for the zinc content. For the shoes, use Febreeze. It even works on cat spray!
Spray your shoes and socks with Lysol or something similar. Use something that will kill off the source of the stink.
