   i would get off-brand birks and then give the rest of the money to charity. birkenstock doesn’t need it. Did you know that the materials and labor for birkenstocks only costs 20-25 dollars? the other 60-65 goes to the big-wigs at the marketing corporation for stocks and the store you buy them from. people who argue that they last twice as long are forgetting that you could get a knock-off at payless for 20 dollars. you could get four pairs of knock-offs for the price of four pair of real stocks. that is not as environmentally friendly, because it’s four times as much toxic glue, wasted cork, and leather, but you could give them to goodwill when they are about half-way through their life. at that rate, you are equal in cost with birkenstock, and you’ve been socially responsible 4 times. you could also donate them to various local shelters.

   In Germany you’ll get them from 49 euro (77 USD) upwards.
   Maybe you should check the web again for a better deal. The link below is a great starting point.
