I live in Chico. I’m a bit of a tree hugging (mainly because I love forest) but I’m not anything else.
Only small percent of people are those as you described.
Hey I graduated from Chico State and as far as I have known its more so a very apathetic place. Only drunk dopey teenagers with no reason to live or study and really sweet elderly people is what Chico is based of. Dont think they really care who you are, as long as you know how to party they respect you. I know weirdly ironic.
But if you choose Chico, learn how to really really drink!
