Why do liberals hate corporations?

One of the more popular liberal activities is attempting to ‘educate’ others on the ‘evils’ of multi-national corporations. Liberals love nothing more than explaining to you how Wal-Mart, McDonalds, Microsoft, Halliburton are destroying the Earth’s resources

However, they seem to favor certain corporations which magically appear to be exempt to be from criticism: Starbucks, for example, is a popular mecca for liberals in urban areas and college campuses. Also exempt are: Apple Computers, Birkenstock, Ikea furniture, Target and Volvo

Liberals prefer to hate corporations that don’t make stuff that they like
Uptown: look what they did to us you say? you mean: made us the #1 economy / military in the world?

    Why do corporations hate democracy?

  2. Watching our empire decline says:

We don’t like Exxon, the insurance industry, or the Pharmaceutical industries siphoning money out of our pockets without our consent. Our problems with China relate to the slave labor and murder of dissidents. Our problems with Halliburton relate to the profiteering from an unncessary war (and make us wonder just who made the decision to start that very war!).

  3. Waylon 3 says:

They actually secretly love them. Most elitist liberal Democrats are extremely wealthy. They just claim to hate corporations to pay lip service to the uneducated masses of ignorant liberals who vote for them.

    I don’t hate corporations; I hate greed.

You can not sit here and tell me that every last corporation on the face of this earth isn’t composed of greed in some way.

Even the ones you mentioned that are somewhat Liberal friendly have a greed aspect to them.

If you got rid of the greed part, I would probably like them a little better. But until then, it’s all a load of Capitalistic shit.

I don’t think they realize without corporations there would be no jobs for people. We all can’t afford to sit on our thumbs . Who would take care of those that don’t work. They would rather tax them to death and run the rest of them out of our country!

  6. bravozulu says:

They are naturally prone to accept communist type propaganda. Corporations that don’t give money get deionized and the sheep follow.

  7. CrazyJ says:

It’s not so much the corporations themselves that are the problem, but the laws and regulations and the way corporations are themselves incorporated ensure that they are completely amoral institutions.

I don’t exempt any corporation from criticism, but that doesn’t mean that certain corporations are more egregious in their violations then others. It would pretty hard for anyone to cut themselves off from the products of corporations, as in the end they are very efficient at producing goods and services. The problem comes at the cost that they sometimes impose for their pursuit of profit.

Besides, if what you say is true and the corporations we avoid is solely based on personal preference, how do explain Target vs. Walmart from the example that you yourself choose? They both sell the same goods more or less. The only difference is one is the epitome of everything wrong with retail while other isn’t quite as bad.

Because of corporate greed and avarice.

  9. Uptown says:

Look what they did to America.

Mobil, Exxon, Shell, Wal Mart, World Com, Enron.

    Shall I go on. . . . . . . . . . . . .

  10. Jason says:

I wouldn’t say I hate corporations, I’d say I hate greed. I kind of doubt that large companies keep expanding and expanding because they want to provide better and cheaper services.

  11. Caninelegion says:

Because they are not liberals but are instead Marxists (who also hate the middle class).

  12. barrys says:

They are mad because at corporations that support the republicans more than them for example few people know that the “evil” lol haliburton-kbr corp. started out bankrolling lyndon johnson as gov. and then vp then pres. (the dems had no problem whatsoever with them then!) but after lyndon johnson fell apart they switched to supporting republicans and know we never hear the end about how evil they when they are doing nothing else that every company our military deals with does. Also the dems are constantly trying to stir up fear in the middle class and poor (which is what they accuse republicans of but it is they who do it see obama’s mccain wants the iraq war to go on 100 years lie right as we speak) so they portray every corp. that is not in their camp as evil.
