you could say I feel horrible about this, but what do you think?

I am a huge animal rights believer, but I feel so guilty. I went into a store today looking for shoes. I end up buying a pair of leather Birkenstock. You wouldn’t believe what a hypocrite I felt while wearing a bracelet that says “I’m tired of animal cruelty” along with the shirt that says love it liberation with a monkey that was being tested on.

Each time I wear them I picture a baby cow crying for her mother but won;t come back cause she’s getting skinned for my shoes. I would take them back, but my feet have indented them already. does this make me a bad person for having my bracelet, shirt and leather shoes?
it’s made from Taupe Suede it says, that is leather right?

Your human. It was an accident. That cow was probably made into many other pairs of the same shoes you bought. So wear out the shoes, wear them until they rip. Protest it. Many of the same shoe’s will probably be thrown in the garbage long before they’re even worn.

It was a mistake, your human.

you do realize it is people’s greed for beef that allows such cows to be born in the first place. so we’re not only responsible for killing them, we also give them life. which doesn’t excuse killing them obviously, but it shows it’s not so one sided.
i wouldn’t feel guilty about the shoes. you’ve probably ingested a million bacterial spores just reading this sentence. death is a part of life :P

Well, as a fellow animal rights activist, I gotta say, that sure is hypocritical. . . But in all honesty, the poor cow was being slaughtered for some horrible meat-eater anyways, so it really is just surplus.

No. Animals are meant to be killed by human beings to make clothing and food for us, it is the balance of nature. You think humans were put on Earth with salads and ranch dressing, polyester and nylon? We survive baby, thats what we DEW.

I think you’ve taken animal activism too far, but then I wear fur, eat all kinds of meat, and own more leather than the Tandy Corporation. I suppose I support the business of agriculture, so I may have a different perspective.

Me, I buy leather shoes because if they are properly cared for, they will last a decade or two. This saves the environment in the long run.
